COLONEL Deb Mears has served in the Army as a personnel or logistics officer for nearly 30 years, transitioning between the regular Army, Army Reserve and Florida National Guard. She is currently on active duty stationed in Norfolk with the Joint Planning Support Element as the Human Resources Officer (J1). Her assignments have taken her to Panama, Hawaii, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Germany as well as stateside tours at Ft Bragg, NC, Ft Sheridan, IL, Washington D.C. and MacDill Air Force Base, FL. For 12 of the past 15 years she has served in joint units supporting all branches of the services. Her favorite assignment was with the 53rd Infantry Brigade where she served 13 years and was the first female to ever serve on the primary staff of an Army combat arms brigade. COL Mears is the proud military mom of SPC Shawn Mears and SGT Nicole Mears who both serve in the Army National Guard; five other members of COL Mears family are also Army veterans. She is a Penn State Alumni and a member of the Army of the United States Association (AUSA), the American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
